Clinton Efinda Commits to Canisius Basketball Program

The 6‑foot‑5 forward adds depth to the Golden Griffins for the 2026‑27 season

A New Chapter for the Griffins

Clinton Efinda, the 6‑foot‑5 forward celebrated for his defensive versatility and scoring ability, has officially committed to the Canisius University men’s basketball team for the 2026‑27 season. The announcement marks a significant addition to the Golden Griffins roster as they look to bolster their frontcourt depth.

Efinda comes to Canisius after two productive seasons at the University of North Carolina Greensboro (UNCG). In 44 games he averaged 3.6 points and 1.3 rebounds while shooting 40.9 percent from the field, 39.4 percent from three‑point range and 76.3 percent from the free‑throw line. During the 2025‑26 campaign he appeared in all 35 games, logging 14.5 minutes per contest and scoring in double figures on five occasions, highlighted by a career‑high 21‑point effort against VMI.

Prior to his UNCG stint, Efinda spent a season at Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls, Iowa, where he averaged 15.2 points per game over 35 appearances and capped the year with a 32‑point performance in his final game. He arrives with one year of collegiate eligibility remaining, giving the Griffins a seasoned player who can immediately impact both ends of the floor.

Coaching Insight

Head coach Jim Christian expressed enthusiasm about the new addition, noting that Efinda’s work ethic and ability to stretch the floor align perfectly with the program’s vision. "We’re excited to bring a player of Clinton’s caliber into our system," Christian said. "His defensive instincts and scoring versatility will add a new dimension to our attack and help us compete at a higher level in the upcoming season."
