The University of Pittsburgh and head coach Pat Narduzzi have revealed that ten new student‑athletes will join the Panthers football program for the 2026 season, marking a significant addition to the squad.
A Diverse Incoming Class
The newcomers span a variety of offensive positions, featuring four linemen, two receivers, a quarterback, a running back, a kicker and a long snapper, underscoring the staff’s focus on depth and versatility.
Among the group, Mike Van Der Oord from St. Ignatius High School in Westlake, Ohio, and Nick Howard from Pearland High School in Texas will anchor the line, while Davin Friedman of Cathedral Prep in Erie, Pennsylvania, will bring quarterback experience.
The skill set also includes Carter Genchi, a kicker from Hillgrove High School in Powder Springs, Georgia, and Damon Ferguson Jr., a running back out of Milford Mill Academy in Gwynn Oak, Maryland, adding dynamic options to the backfield.
Coach Narduzzi emphasized that the blend of local talent and out‑of‑state prospects reflects a strategic effort to strengthen the roster, noting that the group brings a mix of size, speed and work ethic that could shape the team’s immediate outlook.
