Lake High School has appointed Chris Stein as its new head coach for the boys basketball program, a move that underscores the school's commitment to continuity and competitive growth.
A coach with a winning pedigree
Stein comes to Lake after serving as interim head coach at Perrysburg High School, where he guided the team to a 17‑7 overall record last season. His coaching journey also includes stints at St. Francis, Central Catholic and other local programs, giving him a deep reservoir of experience across basketball and baseball.
At the core of Stein’s approach is a focus on relationships, accountability and creating a positive experience for student‑athletes. He believes that strong connections between players, coaches and families lay the foundation for sustained success on and off the court.
The Lake athletic department expressed confidence that Stein’s leadership will reinforce the school’s culture of growth and development. Athletic Director Luke Hickey said the hire aligns with the program’s long‑term vision and will help elevate the Flyers’ profile in the regional landscape.
Fans and community members have already voiced enthusiasm, noting Stein’s familiarity with the area and his reputation for fostering disciplined yet supportive environments. As the new coach prepares for the upcoming season, expectations are high that his philosophy will translate into tangible progress for the team.
