The University of Minnesota Duluth announced that seniors Gabe Richardson and Michael Gabbard have been selected for the 2025-26 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Baseball Team, a testament to their dual commitment to academic rigor and athletic performance.
Richardson, a three-time CSC Academic All-District honoree, maintains a 3.93 GPA in Environmental Health and Safety while amassing a .339 career batting average, 230 hits, 44 doubles, 19 home runs and 147 RBIs over 195 career games. His consistency placed him sixth in the NSIC with 16 doubles and 13th in conference batting average at .354.
Gabbard, a second-time Academic All-District selection, graduated with a Mechanical Engineering degree and a 3.72 GPA. This spring he posted a career-best .320 average, recording 48 hits and 33 runs while delivering strong defensive metrics that underscored his all-around contributions.
A Legacy of Scholarship and Sport
Both athletes join a distinguished list of UMD baseball players who have excelled academically, reinforcing the program’s reputation for developing well-rounded leaders. Their achievements reflect the university’s emphasis on integrating rigorous scholarship with competitive athletics.
