Jimmies Name New Athletics Director and Head Coach

Brian Mistro assumes administrative role while Tom Dosch returns to the sidelines

The University of Jamestown announced a significant leadership change within its athletics department, appointing Brian Mistro as its new Athletics Director and naming Tom Dosch as the head football coach for the upcoming 2026 season.

Mistro, who previously served as a graduate assistant under Dosch and later as head coach at Concordia College, expressed honor and excitement about his new role, citing his deep ties to the program and a vision for integrated growth.

Dosch Returns to Lead the Jimmies

Dosch, who guided the Jimmies from 2004 to 2007 and later achieved prominence at Northern State University, returns after a distinguished tenure that included a Dakota Athletic Conference championship, back‑to‑back NAIA playoff appearances, and a Coach of the Year award.

Both men share a coaching history dating back to 2012, when Mistro assisted Dosch at Northern State, and they say the partnership reflects a continuity that could benefit the program’s future.

The Jimmies are set to open the 2026 campaign on August 29 in Fayette, Iowa, facing Upper Iowa University with a 3 p.m. kickoff, marking the start of a new chapter under Dosch’s leadership.
