The Oklahoma Sooners are headed to Omaha for the twelfth time in program history after a commanding 13‑2 win over Kansas in the second game of the Super Regionals. The victory came despite a weather delay that halted play in the third inning, but the team resumed on Monday and pulled away with a six‑run sixth frame that turned a 7‑1 lead into a 12‑1 advantage.
A delayed but decisive victory
Oklahoma’s offense exploded for seven home runs across the super regional, delivering 21 runs over two games. Deiten Lachance led the charge with two hits and four RBIs, including a homer, while Dasan Harris added two hits, three RBIs and his own long ball. Camden Johnson, Brendan Brock, Kyle Branch, Trey Gambill and Dayton Tockey each contributed an RBI, and Dayton Tockey’s six home runs in nine games underscored his hot streak.
The pitching staff was equally impressive, limiting Kansas to just eight hits and three runs. Freshman Xander Mercurius tossed the first three innings on Sunday and added the fourth on Monday, surrendering only one run while striking out six. Reliever Nate Smithburg logged a career‑long 3.2 innings, and senior Jackson Cleveland closed out the ninth to seal the win.
With the team riding a hot streak, the Sooners will open the College World Series against Alabama at 2 p.m. CT on Saturday, looking to translate their postseason momentum into a national‑title run.
