The 2026 Akron Basketball Summer Classic Golf Outing is set to tee off on September 21 at the scenic Lake Forest Country Club in Hudson, Ohio, bringing together fans of Akron basketball and the broader community for a day of sport and philanthropy.
Event Format
The outing will feature two separate flights, each kicking off with a shotgun start — one at 8 a.m. and the other at 2 p.m. — allowing participants to choose the time that best fits their schedule.
Players can sign up as part of a foursome or explore sponsorship packages that offer additional visibility and benefits for businesses looking to align with the university’s athletic ambitions.
The entry fee is $600 per foursome or $150 per individual golfer, a price that bundles green fees, a golf cart, a full food and beverage service, and a commemorative tee‑prize package.
Supporting the Program
All proceeds from the tournament are earmarked for the Akron basketball program, providing vital resources that help sustain recruiting, facility upgrades and student‑athlete support.
Head coach Dustin Ford expressed his appreciation for the community’s involvement, stating, "We are grateful for the generosity of our sponsors and participants; their support fuels the future of Akron basketball."
Those interested in taking part can register through the Fear the Roo Collective or reach out to Lisa Zaucha at (330) 329‑3262 or via email at lisaz@wentzfamilyfoundation.org for further details.
Looking Ahead
With the event fast approaching, organizers hope the outing will not only raise funds but also strengthen the bond between the university, its alumni and the local community, setting a positive tone for the upcoming basketball season.
