Kajus Kublickas, a 6‑foot‑2 guard known for his playmaking and shooting, has announced his commitment to the South Dakota Jackrabbits men’s basketball program for the 2026‑27 season.
The Lithuanian native arrives after a two‑year stint at the University of Florida, where he was a key contributor to the Gators’ 2024‑25 NCAA championship run.
Before his time in Gainesville, Kublickas spent a season with the University of the Pacific, posting 5.6 points and 3.0 assists per game while appearing in all 33 contests for the Tigers.
At Florida, he logged a career‑high 15 points against Oregon State and delivered a 13‑assist performance against Simpson (California), showcasing the versatility that helped the team to a 33‑game winning streak.
Championship pedigree meets new horizons
His impact was evident in a victory over No. 10 BYU, where he scored 14 points and recorded three steals, and he contributed 11 points and seven rebounds in the national‑title game.
Internationally, Kublickas has represented Lithuania at multiple youth levels, averaging 11.3 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.4 assists at the 2024 FIBA U20 EuroBasket and leading his side to a fifth‑place finish.
Coach Eric Peterson expressed excitement about the addition, noting that Kublickas’ blend of size, vision and experience should bolster the Jackrabbits’ depth and competitiveness in the Summit League.
The move also ties the program to a broader network of talent, linking South Dakota Athletics with institutions such as the University of the Pacific and the University of Florida, both of which have strong basketball traditions.
