The 2026 Ole Miss baseball team enters the postseason as one of the most promising squads in recent memory, but its path to the College World Series will be anything but easy. At the heart of the squad is a pitching rotation that blends experience with raw talent. Starters Taylor Rabe and Cade Townsend headline the staff, with Rabe posting a 2.07 postseason ERA over two starts and 98 strikeouts in 70⅓ innings, while Townsend’s five‑pitch mix keeps hitters guessing.
Hunter Elliott, the sole remaining player from the 2022 national championship team, brings a 2.38 ERA in the NCAA Tournament, providing a steady presence on the mound. Walker Hooks has emerged as the closer, maintaining a 2.43 ERA that has shut down opposing offenses late in games.
Offensively, the Rebels are led by Tristan Bissetta, who tops the team with 23 home runs and is one swing away from tying the program record, and Judd Utermark, whose 51 career homers have already eclipsed the previous mark of 48. Their combined power gives Ole Miss a rare depth of home‑run hitters heading into the super‑regional stage.
Veteran Tim Elko provides leadership in the clubhouse, while utility player Kyle Gordon adds versatility in the infield. Outfielder Daniel Jackson brings a steady bat, and freshman pitcher Aiden Robbins is expected to contribute depth to the bullpen.
A Glimpse at the Competition
During the regular season Ole Miss faced three of the other CWS qualifiers — Texas, Alabama and Georgia — compiling a 3‑6 record against those powerhouses. The experience gained from those matchups should prove valuable as the Rebels prepare for the next round of play.
