A New Chapter for the Program
Alexis Ponce, who helped the Storm capture 45 victories and secure the program’s first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1999, is returning to Simpson as the top assistant coach for the women’s soccer team. Her appointment marks a full‑circle moment for a player who once wore the Storm colors from 2020 through 2023.
During her four‑year tenure, Ponce was a four‑year letterwinner and contributed to a squad that consistently ranked among the top three in the American Rivers Conference. The 2023 season culminated in the Storm’s historic NCAA Tournament berth, a milestone that underscored the impact of her on‑field contributions.
Ponce graduated in 2024 with a degree in sports administration and spent the following two years at Loras College, where she served as the primary liaison for multiple athletic programs, including men’s and women’s soccer, baseball, women’s wrestling, and track and field. Her role there honed her skills in communications and staff coordination, preparing her for the next step.
Now back at Simpson, Ponce will work closely with the head coach to develop strategy, recruit talent, and continue the program’s upward trajectory. Athletic Director Jane Doe praised her blend of playing experience and administrative insight, noting that her return reflects a deep commitment to the university’s athletic community.
