Armani Raygoza, a junior first baseman for the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) baseball team, has been named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings NCAA Division I Central All‑Region Second Team for the second consecutive season.
The honor follows a standout campaign in which Raygoza batted .314 with a .462 on‑base percentage and a .633 slugging percentage, launching 17 home runs, driving in 50 runs and scoring 53 times.
A Record‑Setting Career
Raygoza has cemented his place in UTRGV history by becoming the program’s all‑time leader in home runs (40) and runs batted in (138), while also topping the Southland Conference in six statistical categories, including walks, home runs and slugging.
His consistency is underscored by earning all‑region honors for the second straight year, placing him 27th nationally in total walks (50) and 30th in walks per game (0.91).
Beyond the numbers, Raygoza’s durability shone through 19 multi‑hit games, including four three‑hit outings, and 16 games with multiple runs scored, highlighted by four three‑run performances.
Coaches and teammates praise his work ethic, noting that his 17 home runs this season tie for the fourth‑highest single‑season total in program history, while his 13 multi‑RBI games demonstrate clutch hitting in critical moments.
