A Versatile Addition to the Red Storm
St. John’s University announced the addition of Reina Green, a senior guard transfer from Duquesne University, to its women’s basketball roster on June 8. The move comes as the program looks to reinforce its defensive schemes and scoring options for the upcoming campaign.
Green arrives after a two‑year stint with the Dukes, where she logged 7.8 points per game and ranked second in rebounding with 5.2 boards per contest. Her ability to guard multiple positions and contribute on the glass aligns with head coach Joe Tartamella’s vision of a more dynamic lineup.
During her junior season, Green appeared in all 31 games, starting 23, and posted a career‑high 20 points in a single outing. She also recorded 1.5 assists and a steal per game, underscoring her all‑around skill set.
Prior to Duquesne, Green honed her game at Pensacola State College, a junior college in Florida, where she averaged 8.2 points and 6.0 rebounds while shooting 44.4 percent from the field. Her early college performance included a 17‑point debut that hinted at her potential.
The signing marks the latest piece of Coach Tartamella’s recruiting class, which also features Sanna Tripp, the reigning MVC Sixth Player of the Year, as well as Canadian prospect Yohana Fami and Asia Donald. Together, the newcomers aim to elevate the Red Storm’s competitiveness in the Big East.
St. John’s University, a private institution located in Queens, New York, continues to invest in its athletic programs, partnering with Duquesne University in Pennsylvania and Pensacola State College in Florida to broaden talent pipelines.
