Alabama’s football program received a major boost this week as three‑star running back Tai Phillips announced his commitment to the Crimson Tide.
Phillips, who finished his 2025 high school season with 919 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns in just seven games, also impressed scouts with his track speed, clocking 10.86 seconds in the 100‑meter dash and 22.04 in the 200‑meter dash.
A Strategic Addition for the Crimson Tide
The decision came after Phillips canceled an official visit to Florida State, a move that underscored his preference for Alabama’s coaching staff and development pathway.
His pledge follows the earlier commitment of fellow back Nigel Newkirk, who announced his intention to join Alabama on May 31, leading analysts to suggest that the Tide may have concluded its search for running backs in the 2027 class.
Coaches say the additions provide depth and versatility, positioning Alabama strongly as it prepares for the upcoming season and future recruiting cycles.
Phillips, a native of Fayetteville, North Carolina, will spend his senior year at Irmo High School in Columbia, South Carolina, where he continued to refine his game.
