A Legacy of Leadership
Brad Gschwind, the longtime head coach of Lakota West's baseball program, announced his resignation this week, citing a desire to devote more time to his family.
A 2007 graduate of Lakota West and a member of the school's 2007 Division I state championship team, Gschwind steered the Firebirds to a 101‑93 record over his tenure, highlighted by a 24‑8 campaign in 2025.
In a statement released to the school community, he expressed deep gratitude for the unwavering support of the administration, his coaching staff, and the student‑athletes, while also looking forward to the program's continued growth.
Athletic director Austin Rhoads praised Gschwind's contributions, noting his impact both on the field and within the broader school culture, and confirmed that the head coaching position remains open as the search for a successor begins.
The school has opened the application process, requesting letters of interest and resumes to be submitted to Rhoads, signaling a new chapter for Lakota West baseball.
