Eastern Kentucky University announced the addition of point guard Elyse Autrey, a junior transfer from Augusta University, as the program looks to build on its recent successes.
Championship pedigree and statistical growth
Autrey first gained recognition at Virginia Academy, where she captured four state titles and earned a reputation as a clutch scorer, including two 24‑point performances that highlighted her ability to take over games.
During her lone season with the Jaguars she averaged 9.1 points and 3.1 assists, numbers that contributed to Augusta’s Peach Belt Conference Tournament championship.
Beyond the stat sheet, Autrey’s high school career featured an average of more than 12 points and five rebounds per game, underscoring her all‑around impact on the court.
A timely addition for a program on the rise
Eastern Kentucky has captured the 2026 Atlantic Sun Conference regular‑season championship and maintained three consecutive 20‑win seasons, a streak that positions the program as a consistent contender.
The signing was highlighted by the involvement of Greg Todd and Chad Gibney, key figures in the program’s recent successes, as Autrey prepares to report to campus this summer and begin offseason workouts.
With the team’s momentum already strong, Autrey’s arrival is framed as a strategic move to sustain competitiveness and deepen the backcourt options for the Colonels.
