Sean Bair has taken on a dual role with the University of Michigan women's basketball program, assuming both an assistant coaching position and the responsibilities of general manager.
Coach Kim Barnes Arico highlighted Bair's knack for building relationships, his acumen in recruiting, and his proven track record in player development as key reasons for his hiring.
Bair arrived in Ann Arbor after stints at several institutions, bringing a blend of analytical insight and on-court experience that he honed while shaping offensive and defensive schemes at Penn State.
During his time at Penn State, he produced player-development videos, evaluated prospects, and helped guide the growth of forwards and post players, contributing to the team's overall competitiveness.
At Monmouth University, his first season saw the program surge, posting a seven-win improvement in conference play and a twelve-win jump overall, culminating in a 22-win campaign that reached the second round of the 2024 WNIT.
A Proven Record of Growth
Before joining Michigan, Bair also served as the Director of Video and Analytics at Penn State, where he created instructional content and performed deep recruit analysis.
He previously worked as a graduate assistant at Arkansas, focusing on recruiting graphics and strategic research for the Razorbacks' men's basketball team.
His coaching journey began at New Oxford High School in Pennsylvania, where he earned 2019 GameTimePA Coach of the Year honors and led the team to three consecutive winning seasons, including two appearances in the PIAA 5A postseason.
Bair holds a bachelor's degree in history from Dickinson College and a master's in Adult and Lifelong Learning from the University of Arkansas, underscoring his commitment to both academic and athletic development.
