A New Era for the Buffs
West Texas A&M head coach Josh Prock revealed this week that Mylasia Smith will join the women's basketball program for the 2026‑27 season, adding a dynamic front‑court presence to the roster.
Prock praised Smith's energy, defensive intensity and winning mentality, saying the team is excited to integrate a player who can shift momentum on both ends of the floor.
High School and Junior College Highlights
Smith arrives after a stellar prep career at DeSoto High School, where she captured two Class 6A state titles and earned Honorable Mention All‑Conference honors.
During her season at Trinity Valley Community College she averaged 9.7 points per game, helped the team win the Region XIV Tournament and was recognized as an Honorable Mention All‑Conference selection.
Academic Ambitions
Off the court, Smith plans to major in Animal Science with an emphasis in Pre‑Veterinary Medicine, balancing her athletic goals with a clear path toward a veterinary career.
She is the daughter of Frankie and Toni Smith and the eldest of six siblings, a family background that she says fuels her competitive drive.
