Matt Bolton, a sophomore center fielder for the Binghamton Bearcats, has been recognized on the ABCA/Rawlings All‑Northeast second team following a breakout 2026 campaign.
A Season of Milestones
Bolton’s impact helped the Bearcats capture both the regular‑season and tournament titles, securing the coveted America East "double" and extending their streak of conference dominance.
The team posted a school‑record 31 wins, highlighted by an 11‑game conference winning streak, 18 comeback victories and a 3‑0 sweep of the America East tournament.
Their efforts earned a return trip to the NCAA Regionals for the second straight year and the third time in the past five seasons.
Clutch Performances and Accolades
Bolton led the squad in several key offensive categories and ranked among the top‑four conference players in batting average, on‑base plus slugging (OPS), doubles, triples and overall slugging percentage. His clutch 2‑run home run in the championship game sealed the title and earned him the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player award.
The sophomore’s surge has placed him on pace to become the program’s all‑time leader in hits, doubles, triples and runs, a testament to his consistency and power at the plate.
Beyond individual statistics, Bolton’s leadership has reinforced the Bearcats’ reputation as a resilient and high‑performing program, one that continues to develop talent capable of competing on the national stage.
