The highly‑rated prospect, ranked No. 43 by NHL Central Scouting, will join the Minutemen after a standout junior career.

A promising addition to the Minutemen roster

Egor Barabanov, a six‑foot, 181‑pound left‑shot forward from St. Petersburg, Russia, has signed with the University of Massachusetts for the 2026‑27 season, adding a dynamic offensive threat to the program.

The signing follows his placement at No. 43 on the final NHL Central Scouting list for North American skaters, a ranking that reflects his rapid ascent and professional potential.

Barabanov spent the 2025‑26 Ontario Hockey League season with the Saginaw Spirit, where he posted 95 points in 72 games, highlighting his scoring touch and playmaking flair.

His junior career also includes two seasons in the United States Hockey League with the Sioux Falls Stampede and the Madison Captiols, during which he accumulated 58 points in 135 career games.

Coach Greg Carvel welcomed the new recruit, emphasizing that Barabanov’s creativity, puck control and vision fit the Minutemen’s style of play and could accelerate the team’s development.
