Regional Recognition
The American Baseball Coaches Association, in partnership with Rawlings, announced the 2026 Division I All‑Atlantic Region teams, and two members of the University of Richmond’s roster earned second‑team accolades. The selections reflect a season in which the program combined offensive firepower with pitching dominance.
Dylan Winebrenner paced the offense with a .359 batting average, a .470 on‑base percentage and a .645 slugging percentage, placing him third in the league for slugging and sixth across the board in home runs, RBIs and overall hitting metrics. He capped his collegiate career by graduating with a Master of Liberal Arts degree in May, underscoring a blend of athletic and academic achievement.
Joey Giordano emerged as the first Richmond pitcher since 2003 to claim Atlantic 10 Conference Pitcher of the Year honors. He finished the campaign unbeaten at 11‑0, posting a 3.35 earned‑run average and a 1.19 WHIP over 75.1 innings. His performance also earned him a spot as a semifinalist for the 2026 Dick Howser Trophy Award, given to the nation’s top collegiate pitcher.
Looking Forward
Both players now turn their attention to the next chapter, with professional scouts expected to monitor their progress. For Richmond, the recognitions signal that the program can develop talent capable of competing at the highest levels of collegiate baseball, setting a foundation for future success.
