Emporia State University announced this week that Justin Tabor will join the Hornets' men's basketball program as an assistant coach, bringing a résumé studded with championship experience.

Head coach Tom Billeter highlighted Tabor's extensive background, noting his contributions at UMKC, Southeastern Community College, Eastern Arizona College, Coffeyville Community College and New Mexico State.

A career built on winning

At UMKC, Tabor helped the Roos to a standout 2023‑24 season that saw them finish second in the Summit League and collect three All‑Conference honors.

During his two seasons at Coffeyville, the Red Ravens posted a 60‑9 record, captured two Jayhawk Conference titles and advanced to the Sweet 16 and Final Four of the national tournament.

At Eastern Arizona, he was part of a 26‑7 campaign that secured the Region I Championship, the program's best season since 2008.

His seven‑year stint at New Mexico State included 168 wins, five NCAA Tournament appearances, five WAC Tournament championships and a 2016 regular‑season conference title.

Tabor holds a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from New Mexico State and a Master's in Higher Education Administration from UMKC, and he played four years at Golden Valley High School in Santa Clarita, California.

The hiring underscores Emporia State's commitment to bolstering a coaching staff that can translate proven success into continued growth for the Hornets program.
