Lorenzo Carrier, a senior from Bear, Delaware, has become a focal point of collegiate baseball after a season that blended sheer production with prestigious recognition. The American Baseball Coaches Association and Rawlings recently placed him on their First Team All‑Region squad, a testament to his dominance among peers across the nation.
Carrier’s statistical line reads like a record book. He started every one of Pitt’s 57 games, batting .387 with 77 hits, 69 runs batted in, 67 runs scored, 57 walks, 20 home runs and 15 doubles. Those numbers translate into program‑wide records for home runs (109) and walks (397), as well as the most hits (577), RBI (452) and runs scored (498) in a single season since 2013.
A Historic Milestone
His 20‑plus home runs placed him among only three players in Pitt history to achieve that feat in a single campaign, cementing his place in the program’s annals. The impact of his performance reverberated throughout the Atlantic Coast Conference, where he earned First Team All‑ACC honors and was named the NCBWA District 1 Co‑Player of the Year.
March proved especially electrifying. In that month Carrier batted .500, amassing 28 hits while driving in 33 runs, launching 11 home runs and walking 25 times. His slugging percentage of 1.196 over 56 at‑bats illustrated a rare blend of power and patience that few collegiate hitters display.
Excellence Beyond the Diamond
Off the field, Carrier continues to distinguish himself academically and through community service. He has been recognized with College Sports Communicators Academic All‑District, Academic All‑ACC and ACC Academic Honor Roll honors throughout his career. Additionally, his efforts earned him a finalist nod for the Tony Gwynn Community Service Trophy, highlighting a commitment to service that matches his on‑field achievements.
