Kenaz Sullivan, a four-star safety prospect in the 2027 class, has drawn attention after an official visit to the University of Tennessee, where he explored the campus and met with the coaching staff.
The Virginia native, who ranks 236th nationally and 22nd among safeties, listed Tennessee alongside Ohio State, Florida and Maryland as his final choices, each of which he has either visited or plans to see.
Sullivan’s recruitment journey reflects a broader trend of elite defensive backs seeking programs that can develop both athleticism and academic preparation, and his decision will likely hinge on how each school aligns with his long-term goals.
A recruiter with Virginia roots
At Tennessee, his primary recruiter is Anthony Poindexter, the co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach, who brings a personal connection to Virginia from his own collegiate career at UVA.
The Vols’ 2027 recruiting class currently sits at No. 41 in the national rankings, bolstered by twelve commitments that include four four-star athletes such as Kesean Bowman, Princeton Uwaifo, Malik Howard and Kadin Fife.
What this means for the program
Securing Sullivan would not only reinforce the defensive backfield but also signal Tennessee’s ability to compete for top talent against traditional powerhouses, potentially reshaping the momentum of the program’s future recruiting cycles.
