Ferrum College announced the addition of Kevin Paustenbach as its new Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach, a move that deepens the program’s coaching roster ahead of the upcoming season.
Paustenbach will report directly to Head Coach James Johnson, who is in his first year leading the Panthers, and will be tasked with player development, scouting and strategic planning.
A Coaching Journey Across the Southeast
Before arriving in Virginia, Paustenbach honed his craft at Millennia Atlantic University in Doral, Florida, where he served as Head Men’s Basketball Coach and oversaw every facet of the program.
His earlier stops include a head coaching role at ASA College Miami and an assistant position at the University of Incarnate Word, complemented by stints at Broward College and Middle Georgia State University.
Paustenbach’s academic background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Sport Management from Malone University and a Master of Science from Georgia Southern University, underscoring a blend of theory and practice.
Off the court, he is married to Argerie Paustenbach, and the couple shares a three‑year‑old son, Alan, and a one‑year‑old daughter, Grace, who will be joining the campus community.
Leadership Welcomes the New Staff Member
James Johnson expressed enthusiasm about the hire, stating that Paustenbach’s extensive experience and family presence on campus will enrich the program’s culture and competitiveness.
The college hopes the new coaching duo will help the Panthers climb the conference rankings and contend for postseason play.
