Baton Rouge Community College announced this week that Jonathan Parker will assume the role of head baseball coach, succeeding a legacy of competitive play in the NJCAA and setting the stage for a new era of ambition.
A Legacy of Success at Jones College
During his tenure at Jones College, Parker helped guide the team to a 41‑18 record, captured the NJCAA Region 23 Championship, and earned a berth in the Division II World Series in 2026. His contributions spanned multiple roles, including hitting coach, catching coach, and third‑base coach.
Beyond the win‑loss column, Parker advanced 34 student‑athletes to four‑year institutions, with 19 of those signing with NCAA Division I programs, underscoring his ability to develop talent for the next level.
A Vision Grounded in Accountability and Excellence
Parker, a Louisiana native and former standout catcher at Southeastern Louisiana University, says he wants to cultivate a culture rooted in accountability, academic excellence, and championship‑level expectations. He emphasizes that success will be measured not only by on‑field performance but also by the scholarly achievements of each player.
The college’s athletic department, which competes in the National Junior College Athletic Association, will support this vision through dedicated resources, community outreach, and a commitment to holistic player development.
Brock Kantrow, a familiar figure in Louisiana baseball circles, will join the coaching staff in a capacity that aligns with the program’s growth objectives, bringing additional local insight and expertise to the effort.
