The 2026 USA Basketball Men’s U17 National Team training camp is currently in session at the United States Olympic & Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Thirty-six elite athletes from the classes of 2026 through 2029 have been invited to compete for a spot on the final roster that will represent the United States at the upcoming FIBA U17 Men’s World Cup.
College coaches are barred from the camp, forcing the players to focus on individual development and team chemistry under the guidance of national staff. Six of the invitees have already secured commitments from the University of Kentucky, underscoring the high demand for these prospects.
The Road to Istanbul
The road to the World Cup culminates in a tournament scheduled for June 27 through July 5 in Istanbul, Turkey. After a group stage that pits the United States against France, Japan and Italy, the competition will shift to a single‑elimination format, heightening the stakes for each game.
Only the top twelve players will be selected to travel to Turkey, where they will attempt to add another chapter to Team USA’s dominant history. Since 2010 the Americans have captured gold at every edition of the tournament and hold an all‑time record of 51‑0.
A Tradition of Dominance
Team USA enters the 2026 edition as the clear favorite, a status reinforced by its perfect record and a legacy of championship performances. The coaching staff and players alike are aware that any slip could end a streak that has defined the program’s recent narrative.
Beyond the medals, the camp serves as a proving ground for the next generation of American basketball talent, many of whom will go on to collegiate careers at programs such as Kentucky, where several have already committed.
