Zach Westbrook Takes the Reins
Seymour High School announced this week that Zach Westbrook will assume the role of head baseball coach, succeeding the previous staff and inheriting a program eager for renewal.
Westbrook arrives after a stint as an assistant at Richland College and a professional career in the Pecos League, where he honed his pitching skills and learned the value of disciplined preparation.
Building a Culture of Hard Work
His central mission, he says, is to instill a culture of consistency, hard work and a positive attitude among the student‑athletes. He believes that rigorous practice makes the game itself feel easier, a principle he plans to embed in daily drills and team meetings.
Westbrook also intends to mentor players beyond the diamond, using his dual experience as a competitor and coach to guide them in leadership, academic responsibility and personal growth.
The upcoming season will be his first chance to translate these ideas into on‑field results, and early reports suggest the team is already embracing the new mindset during offseason workouts.
