Union Secures Landmark Contract for Stadium Workers Ahead of World Cup

Tentative agreement with Legends Hospitality includes wage hikes, subcontracting limits, automation restrictions and strike rights.

A union that represents roughly 2,000 food and beverage employees at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood has reached a tentative contract agreement with Legends Hospitality just days before the world’s premier soccer tournament begins.

The deal, struck under pressure of the upcoming World Cup schedule, guarantees significant wage increases, caps on subcontracting, limits on the introduction of new automation tools, and robust privacy safeguards for workers who receive accreditation for major events.

Key Safety and Economic Protections for Stadium Workers

Perhaps the most striking clause grants the workers the ability to walk off the job if federal immigration authorities are perceived to endanger their safety during a match, a provision that underscores the heightened security environment surrounding the tournament.

The union has scheduled a ratification vote for Wednesday, after which the full contract details are expected to be made public.

The agreement will remain in force until April 30, 2028, aligning its expiration with more than one hundred other concessions at stadiums, hotels and airports that are set to end before the Los Angeles Olympics.

SoFi Stadium, which will be branded as Los Angeles Stadium for the duration of the competition, is slated to host the United States’ opening match against Paraguay on Friday, the first of eight games scheduled at the venue.
