University of Illinois head coach Brad Underwood announced the signing of Lincoln Williams, a 6‑foot‑5 guard from Kankakee, Illinois, to a Big Ten Athletics Aid Agreement, marking the latest addition to the Fighting Illini’s 2026 recruiting class.
Williams arrives with an extensive list of scoring records from Kankakee High School, where he amassed 1,853 career points and set single‑game, single‑season and career marks. During his senior season he averaged 26 points, six rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocks, guiding the Kays to a school‑record 29 wins and an undefeated Southland Conference title.
A Record‑Breaking Prospect
His prolific scoring earned first‑team All‑State recognition from the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association, the Associated Press, the News‑Gazette and the Chicago Sun‑Times, as well as multiple player‑of‑the‑year awards from South Suburban Hoops and the Daily Journal.
Underwood emphasized Williams’ combination of scoring punch and defensive potential, noting that the recruit adds depth and versatility to the Fighting Illini’s backcourt.
Williams becomes the sixth member of Illinois’ 2026 class, a group that has been positioned No. 6 nationally in the 247Sports Composite rankings, underscoring the program’s continued upward trajectory.
