Lydia Hinton Takes the Helm of Starkville Academy Girls’ Soccer

The new head coach aims to reshape the team's style and boost performance for the upcoming season

A Fresh Coaching Vision

Lydia Hinton has been appointed head coach of the Starkville Academy girls' soccer team, taking over from Boston Hampton, who served in a part‑time capacity for two seasons.

Hinton previously held the roles of head junior varsity coach and assistant varsity coach, giving her a deep familiarity with the program and its players.

In her new role she says she wants to introduce a more striking style of play, emphasizing attacking intent while still honoring the team's existing strengths.

The offseason program will prioritize physical fitness, health and skill development, a response to the injury concerns that limited the squad last year.

With an eye on competitiveness, Hinton believes the combination of tactical evolution and a healthier roster can lift the team beyond its three‑win finish of the previous season.
