The inaugural Big Miller and Summerwood Sports Girls Team Camp opened its doors in Alexander, Arkansas, bringing together nearly thirty elite girls basketball programs for a two‑day showcase of skill and strategy. The event, renamed in honor of the late Kevin Miller, aimed to elevate the exposure of girls' basketball across the state.
Organizers, including Nigel Wright, described the camp as an outstanding success, highlighting the intensity of the 72 games that pitted state champions and top‑ranked squads against one another. The competitive environment was praised for providing a rare platform for teams to test their mettle before the upcoming season.
Coaches such as Blake Condley of Lake Hamilton emphasized the value of testing their squads against the best, saying the experience would pinpoint specific areas for improvement before the upcoming season. Other mentors, including Doug Williams of EStem and Joe Gregory of Mills, echoed the sentiment that high‑level competition accelerates development.
Rising Stars
Among the standout performances, Syniah Coachman of Springdale Har‑Ber, currently ranked No. 33 in the ESPN NEXT 100, drew attention for her play, while Miciah Fusilier, a former Camden Fairview standout now committed to Baylor, held the No. 26 spot. Easton McCollough of Farmington and Payton Caudle of Fayetteville, both four‑star recruits, recently entered the ESPN Top 60, underscoring the depth of talent on display.
College scouts were also present, with Arkansas Tech Coach Daryl Fimple among those observing the talent on display, underscoring the camp’s role as a bridge to higher‑level recruitment.
