John Gallagher Adds Ognjen Stankovic to Manhattan Roster for 2026‑27

The Serbian forward brings international experience and academic ambition to the Jaspers

A Strategic Addition

John Gallagher, the head coach of Manhattan College's men's basketball team, revealed this week that Ognjen Stankovic will join the program for the 2026‑27 season.

Stankovic, a 6‑foot‑9 forward of Serbian heritage, arrives after a stint at the University of Akron where he appeared in 18 games and logged a career‑high 16 minutes against Princeton.

His game has been shaped by experiences in the Basketball Champions League and the Youth Basketball Champions League, where he was part of a championship‑winning side in 2023.

Representing Serbia at multiple youth levels — including the U16 European Challengers, U17 World Cup and U20 EuroBasket — Stankovic has proven his ability to compete on the international stage.

In the professional ranks he suited up for Igokea in the AdmiralBet ABA League, averaging 12 minutes per game while contributing across the stat sheet in points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks.

Coach Gallagher emphasized that Stankovic's blend of skill, basketball IQ and toughness should allow him to make an immediate impact, both on the court and in the classroom as he pursues a bachelor's degree in general studies.

The Jaspers are excited to welcome a player who not only brings a winning pedigree but also a global perspective that aligns with the program's ambition to compete at the highest level.
