Hunter Elmore named Player of the Year, Adam Brand honored as Coach of the Year

The Tuscaloosa News has unveiled its 2026 All‑Area baseball teams, a tribute to the standout players and coaches who defined the high school season across Alabama.

At the center of the celebration is Hunter Elmore of American Christian, who earned Player of the Year honors for his two‑way dominance at pitcher, first base and second base.

Elmore finished the year batting .508, compiling 60 hits while scoring 47 runs and driving in 42 RBIs. He added 18 doubles and 12 home runs, underscoring his consistency at the plate.

On the mound he went 9‑2 with a 1.16 ERA and 119 strikeouts over 78 2/3 innings, a performance that left opposing hitters baffled.

Coach Adam Brand of Hubbertville was recognized as Coach of the Year after guiding his squad to its first baseball state championship. Brand’s team rallied from a loss in the opening game of the finals and trailed in the second game before forcing a decisive third contest, which they won in dramatic fashion.

First‑team selections also included Jaylen Crocker of Northridge, a versatile catcher‑first baseman‑pitcher who batted .386 with 51 hits, 33 RBIs, nine doubles and 11 homers.

Mayson Elam of Northridge batted .427 with 61 hits, 56 runs, 36 RBIs, 16 doubles and three homers, while Ethan McMillan of Bibb County posted a .414 average, 48 hits, 31 runs, 39 RBIs and 17 doubles.

Seth Hardin of Hillcrest reached base at a .504 clip, batting .367 with 40 hits, 23 runs, eight doubles and eight stolen bases, and Brayden Unger of Fayette County hit .398 with 45 hits, 30 runs, 36 RBIs, 18 doubles, four homers and 13 stolen bases.

Kruz Box of Winfield contributed a .439 average, 43 hits, 46 runs, 11 RBIs, three doubles and 32 stolen bases, while Ridge Brown of Lamar County finished 8‑1 with a 0.55 ERA, 0.66 WHIP and 130 strikeouts in 64 innings.

Evan Malone of Northridge went 10‑1 with a 1.20 ERA and 105 strikeouts over 71 innings, and Tate Pettus of Tuscaloosa County posted an 11‑2 record, 1.05 ERA and 98 strikeouts across 73 innings.

The breadth of talent across schools such as American Christian, Hubbertville, Northridge, Bibb County, Winfield, Hillcrest, Fayette County, Lamar County and Tuscaloosa County reflects a deep pool of emerging baseball excellence in the region.
