Rett Johnson and Luke Nixon, both freshmen on the NC State Wolfpack baseball roster, have been selected to the 2026 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division I Atlantic All‑Region Second Team, a distinction announced this week that underscores their rapid rise in the collegiate game.
Johnson finished the season with a nation‑leading .358 batting average among freshmen, amassing 75 hits, 10 doubles, a home run and 31 runs batted in while also reaching base in 30 consecutive games to close out the year. His .358 average topped the country for any freshman, and he was also named to the NCBWA All‑American second team and the All‑ACC Freshman squad.
Nixon, who started every game at second base, posted a .358 average as well, adding eight home runs, 42 RBIs and 55 runs scored. He contributed 16 doubles, three triples and a career‑high 118 total bases, and he logged 20 multi‑hit games, including a four‑hit effort in the second game of a series at Florida State.
