A New Face in the Paint
Will Taylor, a 6-foot-9 forward from Shrewsbury, Shropshire, has officially committed to the Canisius College men’s basketball program for the 2026-27 season, adding a versatile big man to the Golden Griffins’ lineup.
Taylor spent the 2025-26 campaign at Ellsworth Community College in Iowa, where he helped the team reach the NJCAA Division II national championship game. In 36 appearances he averaged 7.2 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.6 assists, shooting 49 percent from the field and 71 percent from the free-throw line.
Coach Jim Christian praised the newcomer, noting that Taylor’s size, basketball IQ and ability to play multiple positions make him a valuable asset. “He’s a versatile big man who can stretch the floor and defend several spots,” Christian said.
With three years of eligibility remaining, Taylor will join a program that has already secured the commitment of fellow English prospect Clinton Efinda. The pair could give Canisius a distinctive international flavor as the team looks to build on recent successes.
