Michigan State’s field hockey program received a boost this week as head coach Tamara Durante unveiled two new assistants set to join the staff for the 2026 season.
Bridgette Street, a veteran coach with stints at Colgate University, Queens University and Muhlenberg College, will bring a blend of playing experience and leadership to East Lansing. A former goalkeeper at Appalachian State, Street amassed 608 saves during her collegiate career and captained the team in 2010 and 2011.
Street’s coaching résumé also includes roles as a USA Field Hockey Nexus coach and site director, where she guided national age‑group squads to championship successes in 2023, 2024 and 2025.
Her previous stops at Queens University (2018‑2019) and Muhlenberg College (2014‑2017) further illustrate a trajectory that has taken her from the sidelines of Division I programs to the helm of developmental initiatives.
A New Era of Coaching
Emma Hilton, another addition to the roster, arrives after a season as a graduate assistant at Ohio University. A Ball State alumna, Hilton started 73 games as a defensive midfielder, tallying eight goals and 17 assists while serving as team captain during her junior and senior years.
Her accolades extend beyond the pitch; Hilton earned five‑time Academic All‑MAC honors, the MAC Presidential Award and the NCAA Women’s Enhancement Scholarship, and she co‑founded The Next Play, a support network for graduating student‑athletes.
The appointments underscore Coach Durante’s intent to deepen the program’s recruiting pipeline and academic support structures. Both new assistants are slated to begin their duties in the summer of 2026, positioning the Spartans for a competitive future.
The moves also reflect the university’s broader investment in its athletic facilities across its campuses in East Lansing, Hamilton, Boone, Allentown, Muncie and Athens, signaling a coordinated effort to elevate the sport’s profile nationwide.
