The 34th Modesto Sunrise Rotary All-Star Game is set to light up the baseball diamond this Saturday, bringing together the county’s most promising high school players for a showcase of talent and community spirit.
This year’s edition has found a new home at Modern Woodmen Field, the former John Thurman Field that has been freshly repainted in neon diner blue and candy apple red, giving the venue a vibrant new look that fans will notice from the first inning.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m., and fans can enjoy free parking while tickets can be secured in advance online; adults will pay $10, while children under 12 get in free, making the event accessible to families across the region.
A total of 47 players from 20 schools across Stanislaus County will take the field, with Turlock High and Pitman High leading the way, each fielding five and four representatives respectively, underscoring the depth of local talent.
Star‑studded rosters ready to shine
Team Blue will be guided by Todd Davis of Modesto Christian, while Bill York of Turlock Christian will helm Team Gold, adding a layer of local pride to the coaching staff and giving players a familiar voice on the sidelines.
Beyond the competition, the event underscores the region’s deep‑rooted baseball tradition, drawing support from schools such as Denair High, Hughson High, and even the Modesto Nuts and Modesto Roadsters, who have helped spread the word through their networks and social media channels.
