From May 15 through May 17, the Rockville Ice Arena in Maryland will host the seventh annual USA Warriors Sled Hockey Tournament, a showcase of resilience and skill that draws elite sled hockey teams from every corner of the United States.
More than 130 veterans and active‑duty service members with disabilities will lace up their sleds for a series of fast‑paced, full‑contact games. The event highlights the growing visibility of adaptive sports and the powerful message that “Hockey Heals.”
Partnerships Power the Competition
Organizers have joined forces with the Washington Capitals and the nonprofit Miracle4Melanie to bring the tournament to life. Their collaboration provides not only logistical support but also a platform to amplify the stories of the athletes who compete.
Friday and Saturday will feature round‑robin matchups, giving each team multiple chances to prove its mettle. Sunday’s championship round will culminate in a high‑stakes showdown, with the victorious squad taking home the prestigious USA Warriors Challenge Cup.
A Free, Public Celebration
Admission is free, and the tournament welcomes anyone interested in witnessing adaptive athletics at its finest. Spectators can expect high‑energy play, inspiring narratives, and a community united by the love of the game.
Beyond the ice, the event serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by those who serve and the healing power of sport. As the tournament continues to grow, it reinforces the belief that every player, regardless of ability, deserves the chance to compete and be celebrated.
