The University of Massachusetts has unveiled its 2026 field hockey schedule, a 18‑game slate that pits the Minutewomen against a mix of familiar rivals and new challenges.
A demanding non‑conference slate
The season will open on a neutral site against Liberty, setting the tone for a campaign that includes six contests against teams that reached the NCAA Tournament last year.
Early road trips take the squad to Harvard and the University of Maine, while home games against Boston University on September 4 and UMass Lowell on September 6 provide a chance to build momentum.
Later in September the team travels to face New Hampshire before a conference opener at Ohio on September 18, the first of several matches against MAC opponents.
The schedule also features a rematch of last year’s MAC Tournament Championship Game when Miami (OH) visits on October 2, followed by a test against UConn on October 4.
The regular season will conclude with a home matchup against James Madison on October 30, after which the team will prepare for the Mid‑Atlantic Conference Tournament scheduled for November 4‑7 in Oxford, Ohio.
Historic momentum
UMass enters the season with 33 wins over the past two years, a streak that includes a Final Four appearance two seasons ago and a MAC regular‑season championship last year.
Coaches and players alike see the non‑conference opponents as valuable opportunities to fine‑tune tactics before the rigors of league play.
