Hall of Fame nods honor Indiana legends
Antwaan Randle‑El and Vaughn Dunbar, two standout Hoosiers who defined eras of Indiana football, have been selected among the candidates for the 2027 College Football Hall of Fame class, a recognition that underscores their lasting impact on the sport.
Randle‑El, who quarterbacked the Hoosiers from 1998 through 2001, rewrote the record books with a rare blend of arm strength and running ability, becoming the first player in FBS history to amass both 6,000 passing yards and 3,000 rushing yards.
His excellence earned him First Team All‑American honors and the Big Ten’s Most Valuable Player award in 2001, cementing a career that also included multiple All‑Big Ten selections.
Vaughn Dunbar, a running back who starred for Indiana in the early 1990s, burst onto the national scene by topping the nation in rushing yards in 1991, a season that culminated in his designation as a First Team All‑American.
Both players’ nominations reflect the College Football Hall of Fame’s effort to spotlight trailblazers whose contributions reshaped college football, and they will be evaluated by the Hall’s selection committee alongside other candidates.
The nominations also highlight the role of the National Football Foundation, the organization that stewards the Hall of Fame, in preserving the sport’s history and honoring its most influential figures.
