A Strategic Commitment
Egor Shilov, an 18‑year‑old forward from Russia, announced his commitment to Penn State’s hockey program, choosing the Nittany Lions over a planned stint at Boston University.
During the 2025‑26 season with the Victoriaville Tigres of the QMJHL, Shilov ranked seventh overall in league scoring and led all rookies with 82 points in 63 games, showcasing a blend of puck control, vision and a lethal wrist shot.
He also won nearly 55 % of his 1,136 faceoffs, underscoring his effectiveness in the offensive zone, and his ability to generate quick, accurate passes makes him a versatile playmaker.
Shilov’s arrival could reshape the lineup, potentially filling the spot left by Gavin McKenna if the latter opts for an NHL entry, while his addition marks the fourth Russian player in Penn State history, highlighting the program’s growing international footprint.
