A new era of indoor football
Stockton is set to welcome a fresh Arena Football One franchise called the Stockton Crusaders, who will make their debut at Adventist Health Arena in the spring of 2027. The team promises family‑friendly, affordable games that aim to bring the community back to indoor football.
The Crusaders’ uniform scheme features a sleek combination of black, silver and white, accented with orange highlights that give the brand a distinctive, modern look.
Kurt Bryan, the newly appointed head coach, brings experience from his tenure with the Oakland/Bay Area Panthers, adding a layer of credibility and strategic depth to the squad.
Building on a local football legacy
The city’s indoor football history includes the Stockton Lightning, which competed from 2006 to 2009, and the Wolves, an independent indoor team that played a single season in 2011. Both teams left a modest footprint, setting the stage for the Crusaders to carry the tradition forward.
Beyond football, the arena will also host a new professional hockey franchise, expanding the venue’s role as a multi‑sport hub for the Central Valley.
Games are slated to be broadcast regionally and, potentially, nationally, giving the Crusaders a platform that could elevate the profile of indoor football across the United States.
Community expectations
Local officials and fans alike hope the Crusaders will revitalize interest in indoor sports, provide entertainment options for families, and contribute to the economic vitality of Stockton’s downtown area.
