The coaching staff opted to insert Jett Luchanko into the lineup, a move framed as a tactical adjustment rather than a judgment on Michkov’s future. Briere explained that the decision was purely about optimizing the roster for that particular contest.
Michkov, 21, posted a solid rookie campaign with 51 points and 20 goals, but a modest dip in production sparked talk of a sophomore slump. Briere acknowledged the dip, stressing that the player is still developing and that the team sees a long‑term upside.
