Cooper Tarantino, a sophomore catcher for Northeastern University's baseball team, burst onto the scene with a decisive home run in his second collegiate start against Grambling State, setting the tone for a season that would see him become one of the squad's most reliable bats.
Throughout the campaign he amassed 27 hits, 27 runs and 20 RBIs, while ranking third on the roster in putouts (231) and catches (251). His defensive reliability, coupled with a relentless work ethic, has earned him praise from teammates such as AJ Aschettino, Kevin Casey, Matt Brinker, Will Fosberg, Robbie O’Connor, Carmelo Musacchia, Ryan Gerety and Harrison Feinberg.
The Huskies capped the year by capturing the CAA Championship, a milestone that underscored the team's depth, but their run ended abruptly in the opening round of the NCAA tournament. Despite the early exit, the experience provided a valuable blueprint for the upcoming campaign.
Looking Ahead
Tarantino and his teammates are already turning their focus to next season, refining strategies and building on the chemistry that propelled them to the championship. The offseason program emphasizes strength training, film study and community outreach, aiming to translate early-season momentum into sustained success.
