A new era of transfers
Nebraska basketball is undergoing a significant transformation as the program adds five newcomers through the transfer portal while also saying goodbye to several key contributors.
Among the returnees, sharpshooter Pryce Sandfort and versatile guard Braden Frager have both confirmed they will be back in Lincoln, providing continuity and leadership for the Cornhuskers.
The departures include Quentin Rhymes, Berke Büyüktuncel and Justin Bollis, each of whom contributed valuable minutes last season and will be missed in the paint and on the perimeter.
Background on the new transfers
The incoming class brings a mix of experiences: Sam Orme, who averaged 12.7 points and 5.0 rebounds at Belmont, joins Kadyn Betts, a guard who previously starred at Minnesota and Montana, while Trevan Leonhardt arrives after posting 11.9 points, 6.0 assists and 5.4 rebounds last year. Boden Kapke, who recorded 10.6 points and 5.7 rebounds at Boston College, and Taj DeGourville, who contributed 5.5 points and 2.8 rebounds at San Diego State, add depth, alongside Damon Wilkinson, who averaged 13.9 points and 6.4 rebounds for South Dakota State.
Eligibility rules and injury concerns also loom over the roster; Ugnius Jarusevicius, for instance, appeared in only one game before a back injury sidelined him, highlighting the need for careful management of health and compliance.
