A Milestone for Apponequet
The stage is set for a historic showdown as the Apponequet Regional High School baseball team prepares to meet rival Middleboro High School in the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association Division 3 state championship game.
Apponequet arrives with a 20‑4 record, the best in its history, while Middleboro brings a 22‑4 slate, making the final a clash of two of the most successful teams in the tournament.
Coach Jim Cabucio, who has guided Apponequet through a season of steady improvement, will face off against Middleboro’s veteran skipper Jeff Sylvia, a coach known for his disciplined approach and ability to develop talent.
Both squads boast deep pitching rotations. Apponequet’s top arms — Petie Kanakis, Ryan Levesque and Lucas Beauregard — have combined for a potent mix of speed and control, while Middleboro counters with standouts Shannon Sylvia, Jacob Landers and Ryan Tullish, each capable of turning the tide with a single strikeout.
At the plate, Apponequet relies on the hitting prowess of Sean Lundrigan, Garrett Butler, Devin Antonya and Brayden Bogdan, whereas Middleboro’s lineup features EJ Wanke, Tylor Zamara, Nolan Trottier and the versatile Ryan Tullish, who also contributes on the mound.
The championship will be played at Polar Park in Worcester on Saturday, June 13, at 3 p.m., a venue that has become a focal point for high‑school baseball fans across the state.
Fans, alumni and local supporters are expected to fill the stands, turning the event into a community celebration that underscores the growing popularity of high school sports in the region.
