Wright State University announced that Clint Sargent, head coach of the Raiders men’s basketball program, has secured a commitment from Landon Northrop, a 6‑5 guard from Richland, Washington, who will join the team this fall.
Northrop capped his high school career at Richland High School with a state championship, earning MVP honors at the tournament and cementing his place as the program’s all‑time leading scorer with 2,164 points.
A high‑school trailblazer
He became the first player in the Mid‑Columbia Conference to lead in scoring, assists and steals within a single season, a testament to his all‑around skill set and relentless work ethic.
Beyond the numbers, coaches have praised his competitiveness, shooting precision and the intensity he brings to every practice and game.
Joining the Raiders
Northrop will be the eighth new face on the Wright State roster, joining a mix of transfers and high‑school signees as the program looks to build on recent progress.
Coach Sargent expressed confidence that Northrop’s size, shooting ability and drive will add depth and competitiveness to the squad, positioning the Raiders for a strong showing in the upcoming season.
The commitment underscores the program’s growing appeal and highlights the impact of local talent on the national collegiate stage.
