Emily Meinert Joins Arizona Women’s Basketball as Performance Enhancement Coach

The new assistant brings playing experience, graduate training and a proven record from three universities to the Wildcats' staff.

Arizona Women's Basketball announced this week that Emily Meinert will join the program as its new Performance Enhancement Assistant Coach, a role that blends strength and conditioning expertise with player development.

A Career Built on Strength and Strategy

Meinert arrives after two seasons with the University of New Mexico, where she helped shape the Wolf Pack’s conditioning programs and contributed to a competitive roster.

Prior to that, she served as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at the University of Louisiana Monroe, supporting women’s basketball, softball and golf teams.

Before moving into coaching, Meinert played three seasons at Northern Illinois University, where she also assisted the Huskies’ strength and conditioning staff in day‑to‑day operations.

Coach Burke’s Reaction

Head coach Becky Burke praised the new hire, stating, “Emily brings a rare combination of on‑court experience and scientific rigor that will elevate our athletes both physically and mentally.”

Burke, who has led the Wildcats for several seasons, emphasized that Meinert’s passion for player development aligns with the program’s long‑term goals.

Looking Ahead

With Meinert on staff, Arizona hopes to fine‑tune conditioning protocols and foster greater resilience among its roster. The move reflects a growing trend across collegiate programs to enlist specialists who can translate scientific research into tangible performance gains.
