LSU’s basketball program has secured a highly anticipated addition for the 2026‑27 season, announcing the signing of transfer guard Abdi Bashir Jr.
Bashir, a 6‑7 guard from Omaha, Nebraska, arrives on campus after two productive collegiate stops at Kansas State and Monmouth University.
During his junior year at Kansas State he averaged 13.3 points, 2.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game while shooting a career‑high 44.4% from three‑point range, a performance that placed him among the nation’s most lethal long‑range threats.
His previous season at Monmouth was even more prolific; he led the Colonial Athletic Association in scoring with 20.1 points per game, earned first‑team All‑CAA honors and set multiple school and national records, including the most three‑pointers per game in a single season.
A shooter who can stretch the floor
Coach Will Wade said the program is excited to bring a player whose career three‑point percentage of 39.9% reflects a consistency that can shift defensive schemes and open driving lanes for teammates.
The coaching staff believes Bashir’s elite shooting will complement the Tigers’ existing arsenal and help the team remain competitive in the SEC while aiming for a deeper run in the NCAA tournament.
Fans can look forward to seeing a new brand of perimeter play that could redefine LSU’s offensive identity in the coming season.
