Dublin readies for a transatlantic gridiron spectacle
The University of North Carolina will bring a series of events to Dublin in the days leading up to the Aer Lingus College Football Classic, a showcase game scheduled for August 29 that pits the Tar Heels against Texas Christian University.
Chancellor Lee H. Roberts has framed the visit as more than a sporting fixture, describing it as a chance to deepen international partnerships and highlight UNC’s role as a global higher‑education leader.
A week of culture and community
Organized by Irish American Events Limited, a joint venture between Corporate.ie and On Location, the itinerary includes cultural tours, community outreach and fan‑focused activities that aim to blend sport with local tradition.
The official Aer Lingus College Football Classic app will roll out in early July, offering attendees a comprehensive guide to the schedule, ticketing and ancillary events, ensuring that visitors can make the most of the week‑long celebration.
Beyond the stadium, the initiative underscores a broader ambition: to position the classic as a catalyst for academic exchange, economic impact and cultural dialogue between the United States and Ireland.
